Description Gurch 2008-05-17 11:54:29 UTC
If an image on the shared repository also has a local description page, the two will appear one after the other, local description first, with no indication of where one ends and the other begins.

It would be helpful to move the [[MediaWiki:Sharedupload]] message, which currently appears above both descriptions, directly above the shared description so that it separates the two if both exist. This would be especially useful given the text of that message on the English Wikipedia, "This is a file from the Wikimedia Commons. The description on its description page there is shown below." which is misleading if both descriptions exist, and would be unnecessarily verbose if changed to make this clearer.

Component: Images -> User interface
Comment 2 Bawolff (Brian Wolff) 2012-12-02 19:44:42 UTC
Note there is a message named mediawiki:shareddescriptionfollows that separates the two descriptions. By default it is blank, but users can customize it.

With that in mind, I'm closing this worksforme - but since that's not exactly what you're asking for, feel free to re-open if you disagree.
