Wikimedia Bugzilla is closed!

Wikimedia has migrated from Bugzilla to Phabricator. Bug reports should be created and updated in Wikimedia Phabricator instead. Please create an account in Phabricator and add your Bugzilla email address to it.
Wikimedia Bugzilla is read-only. If you try to edit or create any bug report in Bugzilla you will be shown an intentional error message.
In order to access the Phabricator task corresponding to a Bugzilla report, just remove "static-" from its URL.
You could still run searches in Bugzilla or access your list of votes but bug reports will obviously not be up-to-date in Bugzilla.

Description Bob Stauffer 2008-05-17 04:46:30 UTC
When someone goes to Wikipedia they indend to look up something. Not having the cursor active in the search window wastes time. If someone wants to do something else, they can click over to that, so they haven't wasn't any time by this change.

No, we will not do this as it would interfere with usability and accessibility -- keyboard navigation and standard forms.

Even worse -- it would cause *every page* to jump down, cutting off the top of the page, for people with small screens.
