In method Language::getSpecialPageAliases code:
wfRunHooks( 'LangugeGetSpecialPageAliases', array( &$this->mExtendedSpecialPageAliases, $this->getCode() ) );

calls hook named "LangugeGetSpecialPageAliases", which is misspelled, because on manual page: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Hooks/LanguageGetSpecialPageAliases, http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Special_pages hook is named "LanguageGetSpecialPageAliases" (not misspelled). That's why internationalization of special pages didn't work. Maybe this is fixed in 1.12.
