Wikimedia has migrated from Bugzilla to Phabricator. Bug reports should be created and updated in Wikimedia Phabricator instead. Please create an account in Phabricator and add your Bugzilla email address to it.
Wikimedia Bugzilla is read-only. If you try to edit or create any bug report in Bugzilla you will be shown an intentional error message.

Description Melancholie 2008-05-07 22:40:51 UTC
If a template ([[:de:Vorlage:NurListe]]) was changed, logged in users see the old template content for about 1 minute.

And this despite "Disable page caching" is checked in [[Special:Preferences]]!

If *not* being logged in the template part shown in an article is immediately the current one (at &stable=0) after template change. If being logged in for 1 minute or so, the former template content remains, does not matter if no URL parameter is given, if ?stable=0 or &stable=0. After one minute or on action=purge it is shown correct.
Comment 1 Melancholie 2008-05-07 22:43:36 UTC
If a template ([[:de:Vorlage:NurListe]]) was changed, logged in users see the
old template content *in articles* for about 1 minute.

Marked articles?
Comment 3 Melancholie 2008-05-07 23:14:31 UTC
Yes, only for marked ones. If not yet marked at all, "Current revision (unreviewed)" is shown; is suitable.
Comment 4 Melancholie 2008-05-07 23:19:17 UTC
Argh, wrong bug in mind; forget #3! Will test...
Comment 5 Melancholie 2008-05-07 23:25:41 UTC
Marked *and* not-yet-marked ones!

This time in took 2-3 minutes til N was shown.
Comment 6 Melancholie 2008-05-07 23:27:57 UTC
Tested with [[:de:Vorlage:NurListe]], [[:de:Paradoxon]] and [[:de:Kempten_(Allgäu)]]
Comment 7 Aaron Schulz 2008-05-07 23:36:34 UTC
I'm guessing this is jobqueue lag.
Comment 8 Melancholie 2008-05-08 01:47:49 UTC
This effect sometimes also happens for the mw-revisiontag box; occured in [[:de:Murinsel]].
See [[:de:Hilfe_Diskussion:Gesichtete_und_geprüfte_Versionen#Markierte_Version_wird_als_nicht_markiert_angezeigt]]
Same cause, or just similar in consequence?
Comment 9 Melancholie 2008-05-09 15:40:00 UTC
At [[:de:Hilfe_Diskussion:Gesichtete_und_geprüfte_Versionen#Komisches_Sichtverhalten]] User:Bradypus mentioned that he edited an article and did sight it right after (directly). This resulted in sighting not the latest revision, but the one before last (made by a bot). Article had not yet been marked at all, before.
Same reason, or new report no. necessary?

Comment 10 Melancholie 2008-05-10 19:21:42 UTC
This kind of cache effect also applies for action=history (even if "Disable page caching" is checked).
Happened to me for history of [[:de:36 v. Chr.]] minutes ago!
