Show a revision comparison with the stable revision on action=edit, if the most current revision is not flagged! Maybe toggable. Coming from stable=1 (default) to action=edit can confuse... The problem of showing the readers not the most current, but the latest stable/sighted revision by default is, that someone finds a mistake or a sentence he/she wants to change (in the displayed article; stable=1) and is going to correct it. But then he/she maybe searches forever in the (for beginners sometimes unclear) wiki source text for that mistake or sentence! Why? Maybe someone else corrected the mistake or completely changed the sentence already ;-)
OK, so the edit link to pages with stable=1 need to have some extra parameter to the url, which enables this diff.

(In reply to comment #3) > http://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Kategorie&action=edit&showdiff=1 > still shows templates expanded! > Yeah, that was fixed in the next revision.
