A request has been made (otrs) to include the summary attribute in table syntax for accessibility reasons. For more information about the guideline see http://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG10-HTML-TECHS/#tables
Component: Page editing -> UI
If I'm not mistaken, this is already working. We can already add the summary attribute to table: {| summary="Intersections are listed in row 1. Find the intersection closest to your starting point or destination, then read down that column to find out what time the bus leaves that intersection. Service begins at 4:00 AM and ends at midnight."> |+ Schedule for Route 7 going downtown ! scope="col" | State & First ! scope="col" | State & Sixth ! scope="col" | State & Fifteenth ! scope="col" | Fifteenth & Morrison etc. |} So says the accessibility guidelines for editors I wrote at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style_%28accessibility%29/Data_tables_tutorial#Providing_a_summary
Has been working since at least late 2010 it seems. Confirmed to today by myself as well.
