Dear friends;

When I have a usefull IRC client available I log in some of the channels listed at
[[m:Small Wiki Monitoring Team/IRC]]: I select channels for projects where I am either a sysop or have a friendly relation to that project.

Some days ago when working on gadgets generating short url's I have seen some very long url's.
One was for a change at
[[rmy:Shopni:भारतेस्के फोरुर्या पालाल लेंगो स्तातो]] The url for this page is
http://rmy.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shopni:%E0%A4%AD%E0%A4%BE%E0%A4%B0%E0%A4%A4%E0%A5%87%E0%A4%B8%E0%A5%8D%E0%A4%95%E0%A5%87_%E0%A4%AB%E0%A5%8B%E0%A4%B0%E0%A5%81%E0%A4%B0%E0%A5%8D%E0%A4%AF%E0%A4%BE_%E0%A4%AA%E0%A4%BE%E0%A4%B2%E0%A4%BE%E0%A4%B2_%E0%A4%B2%E0%A5%87%E0%A4%82%E0%A4%97%E0%A5%8B_%E0%A4%B8%E0%A5%8D%E0%A4%A4%E0%A4%BE%E0%A4%A4%E0%A5%8B

on the IRC channel the url displayed was

one can see that « 0%A4%A4%E0%A5%8B » was missing .


One should consider migrating to short url's (without the title) and short diff's and agree on a format to display the title in UTF-8 .


note: These channel do display the user names only for users with Latin++ type user names. This is of no help at a large number of wikis. Please consider to display the user names anyhow.


This migration requires a lot of coordination. Thanks for all your efforts in advance!
