CheckUser is hard to install: I tried doing it via Phpshell for my XAMPP install which has a working copy of MediaWiki 1.12alpha - but couldn't get it to work. I can't really just add it to extensions folder, with ExtensionFunctions.php and then it'll be installed (not forgetting $wgCheckUserLog directory). Anyone know if CheckUser will be made easier to install, as [[:mw:Extension:CheckUser]] isn't easy to install for some people.
What do you mean "doesn't work"?

OK, this looks like a local configuration or "how do I use my database" sort of question. You should try php or mysql support networks for getting this info.
