A portion of the content (the same amount that is ordinarily in mediawiki:excontent) of the page being deleted should be available on the deletion page somewhere other than in the deletion summary box, so that scripts can work with it (and, for example, pick something from the dropdown based on a deletion tag found in the content). This is needed because consensus on en is to not use this as a deletion summary, but with excontent blanked that means it's not available anywhere on the delete page.
This is pretty abstract to me (plus I'm afraid that the user interface has changed a bit in the last six years); for example which scripts need to work with what exactly? Can concrete examples be provided, please, so we can discuss real usecases and avoid misunderstandings?
