I filed a proposal at Village Pump (proposals) but came to a dead end. My rationale is there, [[Wikipedia:Village pump (proposals)/Archive_10#Simple_English_Wikipedia|here]], and [[Wikipedia:Village_pump_(proposals)#Simple_English|here]]. (<-these links will die when they get archived). Also, this is my first bugzilla post, so I hope I'm doing this right. <br> My basic reasoning is that Simple English Wikipedia is basically useless because the link is so hidden in the interwikis that little kids could not find/not even think to find the Simple English Wikipedia in the languages bar. Simple English has many benefits to young people as well as foreign peoples, as well as increasing the SE wikipedia's aritcles. (You can read more on this in my links above). I think the more the SE link stands out to readers, the better. <br> I proposed something like this (below): here are other versions: [[:Image:Simple English Sidebar2.png| another sidebar like below]], [[:Image:Simple English Sidebar.png|a sidebar that stands out]], [[w:User:Penubag/Sandbox/Article|a template at the bottom of the article rather than a sidebar.]] [[Image:Simple English Sidebar3.png]] <br> I hoe something could be worked out, as this is probably a lot more important than you think. This would be a situation for the local community to decide, I'd think. Otherwise, how would it be done? $wgHasSimpleVersion? English is the only language with a simple version (afaik), so any changes to the code would need to be not-English-centric (ie: usable across all languages). This being said, until/unless many projects have simple versions, I'd suggest WONTFIXing this and trying to get the community to agree. This would be easily done via [[MediaWiki:Common.js]] changes.
