Wiktionary provides extra preferences which MediaWiki doesn't provide. But there are limitations.

* Unlike MediaWiki preferences they are not available with Javascript disabled.
* The preferences are associated with a cookie rather than with a user.
* They don't look and feel like the standard preferences.

The various tools can/should be turned into Gadgets. No need for an extension for this really.
