Setting, in a form definition, any field to be mandatory in a template that's set to be multiple-instance causes validation to always fail when a user uses such a form. The system thinks every such field is blank, regardless of its value; and it similarly fails when no instance has been added. Validation might have to be handled separately for multiple-instance templates.
