There is an existing syntax for putting a suffix onto a wikilink, namely [[thing]]s. However, there are many wiki links that look like [[Short, disambiguation part|Short]]. There should be a syntax that allows one to just type [[Short>, disambiguation part]]. Some thought needs to be given to what the separating symbol(s) should be to avoid corrupting existing links.

What you're looking for is already implemented per bug 6826:
