Description とある白い猫 2007-09-24 13:42:29 UTC
I think this will have to be implemented after SUL but I think it would be more useful if we could move pages interwiki. In other words if a page needs to be transwikied from en.wikipedia to fr.wikipedia or from en.wikipedia to en.wikisource or from commons.wikimedia to en.wikipedia or from "en.wikipedia to commons.wikimedia" (images for example), we should be able to "move" them.

This would be useful interface-wise and legaly (maintaining page histories).
Comment 1 Victor Vasiliev 2007-09-24 13:46:59 UTC
Maybe I don't understand something, but isn't it implemented as Special:Import?
Comment 2 Roan Kattouw 2007-09-24 13:48:15 UTC
Yes, it is. Special:Import (sysops only) allows for importing of pages (with history) exported with (surprise!) Special:Export.
Comment 3 とある白い猫 2007-09-24 16:15:34 UTC
Can this be used with images?

No, you can do it manually
Comment 5 とある白い猫 2007-09-25 05:34:32 UTC
I want to be able to export and move them. "Manualy" moving images is difficult and problematic. Edit history is one such problem. Older versions is another.
Comment 6 Rob Church 2007-09-25 12:07:43 UTC
Special:Import can be used to do a transwiki from another source for pages, but not for images, at the present time; this issue would be resolved if that were the case (do a transwiki, delete from source), so I'm going to dupe this to bug 6071.

Comment 7 とある白い猫 2007-09-25 20:57:19 UTC
I do not believe [[Special:Export]] is what I want.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Export/User_talk:White_Cat/Export

That contains no information on page history and etc. I want to be able to move a page from one wiki to another as if it was completely written there.

Go to [[Special:Export]] and enter User talk:White Cat/Export in the big white textbox. Uncheck the "Include only the current revision, not the full history" checkbox and click Export.
