Description Hersfold 2007-09-17 05:11:24 UTC
When clicking on links produced by Template:coord on the English Wikipedia (link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Coord), the template is supposed to access the geohack tool, as shown in the URL above. For unknown reasons, this is producing a 403 Forbidden Error:

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /~magnus/geo/geohack.php on this server.
Apache Server at tools.wikimedia.de Port 80

This has happened to several other people as well, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Help_desk#403_Forbidden_error_on_coordinates for discussion.

I can't reproduce this bug. Maybe it is intermittent?
Comment 2 Gurch 2007-09-17 10:26:16 UTC
Geohack is on the toolserver, which has been having problems lately.
Comment 3 Andrew Garrett 2007-09-17 11:04:48 UTC
GeoHack was disabled on the toolserver, because it was causing a DNS flood.
Comment 4 Filip Maljkovic [Dungodung] 2007-09-18 10:41:45 UTC
Obviously not a MediaWiki issue. There is a Toolserver Bugzilla (which doesn't seem to be working at the moment), so I suggest going there.
Comment 5 Rob Church 2007-09-18 10:47:31 UTC
To be fair; the bug was filed in the Wikimedia component, and if the Toolserver-specific BugZilla is unavailable, then there's not much point directing people there - if a report here doesn't get acted upon (which is quite possible), then a better option is to email zedler-admins at wikimedia dot org with a report.
