Description Jim Sibigtroth 2007-08-18 03:56:52 UTC
Attempt to logon as JimSib - I get-
"Login error:There is no user by the name "JimSib". Check your spelling, or create a new account.",
This account is only a few days old. Helpers in IRC can see my username. I understand case sensitivity, cookies are enabled.
Helpers suggested this might be related to a recent server crash. They requested that I enter this bug report.
Comment 1 Rob Church 2007-08-18 04:52:37 UTC
There doesn't appear to be a user account named "JimSib" on Meta; it doesn't show up in the user list, and http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:JimSib doesn't contain the toolbox links which would indicate that the account exists.

Since this is a recent creation, it would also show up in the New User Log, and it doesn't. You're sure the account was created on Meta? [Pending the resolution of bug 59, accounts are not global across Wikimedia wikis.]

Just for the cross reference to be correct for the original poster, it's bug 57.
