Hello. I would like the Haitian Creole Wikipedia (http://ht.wikipedia.org) to be renamed into "Wikipedya". Its current name is "Wikipedia", however in Creole the sound "ia" is always written "ya". A Creole speaker confirmed this request. I have two questions related to this : 1) I also want to submit a change for namespaces, so that they are translated into Creole. Should it be done at the same time ? 2) Will the links towards Wikipedia:Some page be changed into Wikipedya:Some page, or does this have to be done manually / by a bot ? Thanks.
1) Please open a new bug: Product: MediaWiki, Component: Internationalization. We need a translation of this array: $namespaceNames = array( NS_MEDIA => 'Media', NS_SPECIAL => 'Special', NS_MAIN => , NS_TALK => 'Talk', NS_USER => 'User', NS_USER_TALK => 'User_talk', # NS_PROJECT set by $wgMetaNamespace NS_PROJECT_TALK => '$1_talk', NS_IMAGE => 'Image', NS_IMAGE_TALK => 'Image_talk', NS_MEDIAWIKI => 'MediaWiki', NS_MEDIAWIKI_TALK => 'MediaWiki_talk', NS_TEMPLATE => 'Template', NS_TEMPLATE_TALK => 'Template_talk', NS_HELP => 'Help', NS_HELP_TALK => 'Help_talk', NS_CATEGORY => 'Category', NS_CATEGORY_TALK => 'Category_talk', ); 2) Existing links like Wikipedia:Some page will automatically redirect to Wikipedya:Some page. For changes to he wikicode use a bot if necessary.
Thanks, I have opened bug 10906 for namespace translation and submitted MessagesHt.php.
wgSiteName and wgMetaNamespace changed to Wikipedya.
Thanks ! But a note for future reference : any link like Wikipedia:Some page now redirects to the English language Wikipedia, instead of linking to Wikipedya:Some page, and have to be corrected promptly (I guess this comes from the fact that the canonical namespace name is "Project:" and not "Wikipedia:" ?). This could be kept in mind for future renaming...
"Wikipedia" needs to be added as an alias to the Project namespace for that wiki; reopening for further shell attention.
Well, I think I've corrected most links now (it's not such a big project). But having an alias wouldn't be a bad idea.
Done.
