Description MF-Warburg 2007-07-25 08:41:22 UTC
Please close Herero Wikipedia (hz). A vote took place on :m:Proposals for closing projects/Closure of Herero Wikipedia. Please delete the deletion candidates before closing, but don't delete pages marked with moved because the version history should be seen in the future, too.

Comment 1 MF-Warburg 2007-07-25 08:49:06 UTC
Please also add a link to the incubator pages: :incubator:Wp/hz.

Comment 4 MF-Warburg 2007-07-25 15:13:38 UTC
No duplicate, but wrong summary.
Comment 5 MF-Warburg 2007-07-26 11:30:48 UTC
Before closing: please activate transwiki from hz to incubator and transwiki the pages with a text as "Moved: ..." to incubator. They should be interwikified and not copied. Afterwards, please delete them.
Comment 6 Robin Pepermans (SPQRobin) 2007-07-27 18:57:55 UTC
Is it possible to enable the normal XML-upload import? Because this (importing pages from closed projects to Incubator) will happen more times.
Comment 7 MF-Warburg 2007-07-28 09:35:17 UTC
It is. I think if you are in the group "import" you can do this. If not, the developers have to give the "importupload" right.
Comment 8 Robin Pepermans (SPQRobin) 2007-07-28 17:53:02 UTC
So we are requesting to enable the "importupload" right on Incubator as discussed at incubator:Incubator:Community_Portal#moving_to_incubator.

Thanks.
Comment 9 Casey Brown 2007-07-28 17:59:44 UTC
Actually, any sysop should be able to import a page (in addition to those with the import permission).
Comment 10 Robin Pepermans (SPQRobin) 2007-07-28 18:04:56 UTC
No, I can only import pages from Meta, Commmons and en:
That is the "transwiki import"

I want to correct my #c8: We are requesting what MF-Warburg said in #c7: enable the "import group" if sysops can import XML-files with that group. Otherwise enable the "importupload" right.
Comment 11 Casey Brown 2007-07-29 01:24:14 UTC
Yeah... but the import group seems to be already enabled, we're asking on m:RFP for them to set some of us to the import group
Comment 12 Robin Pepermans (SPQRobin) 2007-07-29 16:47:51 UTC
I (User:SPQRobin), User:Cbrown1023 and User:MF-Warburg do now have import rights.

Now I want to ask if we could import via transwiki. We already can do this with Meta, Commons and en:, but it would be easier if we can do this with all projects. It is not very important, but it should be easier.
Thanks.
Comment 13 Casey Brown 2007-07-30 01:33:48 UTC
I really don't think that's possible.
Comment 14 MF-Warburg 2007-07-30 09:12:48 UTC
It is possible, but would be not needed (we only import one time from a project).

The Herero Wikipedia is now imported :incubator:Wp/hz and can be closed.
Comment 15 Robin Pepermans (SPQRobin) 2007-07-30 10:10:04 UTC

If we want to import the Main Page of a wiki, it is very useful, then we can change the page name. Because if we import a Main Page with file upload, it will merge with the existing history of incubator:Main Page, as already happened :(

(In reply to comment #14)
> The Herero Wikipedia is now imported :incubator:Wp/hz and can be closed.

We can import projects when they are already closed, so it is not necessary to report this.
Comment 16 Robin Pepermans (SPQRobin) 2007-07-30 10:21:04 UTC
I have just seen on m:Help:Import#Editing_the_import_file that we can edit that file. I have tried this and it is a little bit difficult to edit, but it is possible :-)

So what I said in comment #12 is not more necessary.
Comment 18 MF-Warburg 2007-08-17 12:27:07 UTC
Please delete those spam/crap pages there before. see :hz:Special:Whatlinkshere/Template:Delete
Comment 19 JeLuF 2007-08-17 13:05:10 UTC
I'm not a sysop on those wikis. Please find someone with sufficient rights to remove those articles first.
Comment 20 MF-Warburg 2007-08-17 14:11:16 UTC
I am a sysop there, but I couldn't delete becuase the database was locked. Now I did, so you can re-lock the db.
Comment 21 JeLuF 2007-08-17 22:27:33 UTC
Why do you request page deletion when you can do it yourself?

Can you please also do the deletions for the other to-be-locked wikis?
Comment 22 MF-Warburg 2007-08-18 09:41:09 UTC
No, I can't, I'm not a sysop there, only for http://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10706 (Chamorro Wikipedia), where I do.
Comment 23 Raimond Spekking 2007-08-22 15:39:09 UTC
Opening this bug as log the wiki is open.
Comment 24 JeLuF 2007-09-01 07:58:15 UTC
