ImageMap cannot be used for images embedded in tables.
For example, the section "Cell nucleus (a cell's information center)" of the referred Wikipedia link contains an image at http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/f/f9/Diagram_human_cell_nucleus_no_text.png
I´m not sure about where the ImageMap tag should be placed. It doesn´t work within the table.
Maybe this bug should be directed to tables.
In any case, lots of images are embedded in tables, so this should be addressed in some way or another.

<imagemap> works fine for me in table cells using current trunk...
