Description Danny B. 2007-07-23 16:53:25 UTC
It would be great if the highlighter could support wikitext.

This is something to ask the GeSHi folks, not us. The request goes beyond the scope of the extension. But I can assure you that it's probably not going to be easy or reliable to do until we make an attempt at formalizing the syntax, so I doubt anyone will do it.

Is it possible to have a tracking bug open for this instead of having it resolved as INVALID?

Alternatively, since the definition of wikitext syntax is subject to change, it would make sense to me to maintain a syntax definition as part of the extension since it is in a better position to change if something in MediaWiki does change. I agree that the GeSHi folks probably don't want to open themselves to the potential for complaints about broken highlighting due to the lack of a formal wiki syntax.
