Description Huji 2007-07-03 14:15:10 UTC
This code:

[[Image:Old ladder inside Carlsbad Cavern-57.JPG|thumb|Old ladder inside a [[cave]]]]

Is not showing any image. However, this one works:

[[Image:Old ladder inside Carlsbad Cavern-57.JPG|thumb|180px|Old ladder inside a [[cave]]]]

It was first brought to my attention on Simple Enlglish Wikipedia but is not limitted to that wiki. I haven't found any other image which breaks like this. As there are possibly many cases where "thumb" command is used without a size definition, I am marking this bug as major.

This is one of the general image generation and/or caching issues. I'm going to mark this as INVALID since it's covered elsewhere.

Purging the image generally takes care of it; confirmed for this one.

We've got a similar problem with Image:AlysonMichalka1.jpg (from commons) on Alyson Michalka. I tried "action=purge" on both Simple En WP and the commons, but it didn't solve it for me. I'm reopening this bug, seeking your attention, and if possible, advising me on how to solve similar issues myself later.

Seems like the http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/thumb.php?action=purge&f=file_name.ext&w=250 trick mentioned on bug 2888 solves this problem.
