Wikimedia Bugzilla is closed!

Wikimedia has migrated from Bugzilla to Phabricator. Bug reports should be created and updated in Wikimedia Phabricator instead. Please create an account in Phabricator and add your Bugzilla email address to it.
Wikimedia Bugzilla is read-only. If you try to edit or create any bug report in Bugzilla you will be shown an intentional error message.
In order to access the Phabricator task corresponding to a Bugzilla report, just remove "static-" from its URL.
You could still run searches in Bugzilla or access your list of votes but bug reports will obviously not be up-to-date in Bugzilla.

Description Daniel Cannon (AmiDaniel) 2007-06-07 15:34:48 UTC
If we could please get the DynamicPageList extension on Wikiversity, it would be much appreciated :D. The old DPL will do just fine ( http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:DynamicPageList/old or the one installed on wikibooks if I provided the incorrect URL). Thank you.http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:DynamicPageList/old

This would be useful both for helping organize content as well as just for the sake of teaching users how to use some of the more exotic bits of MediaWiki software. The current version would of course be much better, but given the database lag problems of late, being conservative is certainly understandable.

There are some settings that set the results list to be infinite--maximum categories should be around 10, not 3.
Comment 3 John Schmidt 2007-06-14 00:27:52 UTC
Some Wikiversity participants are also Wikibooks contributors, so they are familiar with this extension and want to also use it at Wikiversity. Please provide this for Wikiversity.

I switched piority to "high" (sorry if I'm not supposed to do that), because there are going to be some outreach projects (as in actual Wikimedians actually going out and teaching actual people to edit), and DPL would really save us quite a few hours of unneeded work (we're not teaching them how to use dpl, but we do plan on showing them some pages that we can create using DPL and AWB that will hopefully impress them).

Note that the CTO has stated that "[DynamicPageList 2] will never be installed anywhere" and that "DynamicPageList is kind of unreliable".

If you need specific features from these extensions, it would be wiser to open bugs requesting them. See also bug 8672 comment 9 and bug 6163 comment 5.

The old version (like on wikibooks, see http://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3169 ) will do fine. It's just the category sorting that's needed (other bells and whistles would be nice, but as long as the collation function works, that will do the trick).
Comment 7 Brion Vibber 2007-06-15 14:22:20 UTC
Since DPL is already enabled on Wikibooks and Wikiversity sort of split from it, I wouldn't object to turning it on there for the moment.

Set.
