Start the visual editor on some long article that doesn't fit on one screen. Scroll down, start a new line and select "Heading" (or any other option) from the format drop down menu. At that point, the article will inappropriately scroll to the top.

Yeah, this is a quite bad inconvenience for editing a proper-length page; merging with bug 50792, the initial report.
