Hi, Tamil Wikimedia community would like to disable the webfonts implementation in all Tamil Wikimedia projects. Here is the community request for comments and consensus: http://ta.wikipedia.org/s/30hp
(In reply to comment #0) > Here is the community request for comments and consensus: > > http://ta.wikipedia.org/s/30hp Hm, that's still the same poll after which Gerrit change #68350 was made. It should have been live on the wikis for a few days now and I see the last comments are rather old, are you sure the vote is still current?
Nemo, The proposal clearly asks for the following: // That the web fonts extension / implementation be disabled for all Tamil Wikimedia projects with immediate effect. That the same feature shall not be reintroduced in future without explicit permission or request from the Tamil Wikimedia Community. That the bugs regarding web fonts implementation mentioned above be addressed immediately. // and doesn't ask for a default font change which is the solution given for the issue. The strong support is unanimous. The polling is open and the last vote so far has been cast yesterday. Do you consider this an outdated poll? The default font change doesn't fix the bugs present in the web fonts implementation. If one chooses the web fonts, the bugs still remain. Please check https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49934 which clearly illustrates where web fonts lack in application. When Malayalam community requests to take back the webfonts, you are asking for consensus as in https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49894 When Tamil community requests with a proper consensus you are saying the discussion is out dated. Please respect the spirit of the community and implement and what we asked for. We don't need a diverting and half baked solution.

I don't have the power to implement anything. :) I know that the poll is recent, but ULS has received many and quick modifications too...
//I don't have the power to implement anything. :)// If you don't have the power, then may I please request that you don't waste our time by posing questions and let the developers to respond? Thanks.

(In reply to comment #4) Ravishankar: Nemo tries to understand & help clarify, in order to help developers save time, and I appreciate his help. Assume people mean well.
Andre, I mean well and that's why I replied in detail for his question. I appreciate if his questions had been helpful for the developer team. But responses like "I don't know, I asked you." and rhetoric or useless questions like "I see the last comments are rather old, are you sure the vote is still current" for a live discussion page simply sound irresponsible.
A web font for Tamil enabled by default for text tagged as Tamil is no longer in effect. Hence closing this issue as resolved.
