Freebase aggregates from Wikipedia. Their copyright statement still states GFDL. (note bottom of the linked page).
Thanks for the heads up. I mailed our contact and am waiting to hear back about when it might be changed.
The Freebase development site http://dev.sandbox-freebase.com/m/05zy2cy does not seem to credit Wikipedia at all.
Hi, I have updated our license information in our sandbox: http://www.sandbox-freebase.com/view/en/tron_legacy Let me know if this seems sufficient and I will update our production environment. Michael, Freebase
Hi Michael, Thank you for updating the license. The only changes I would make are minor. I would state "Read the full article at Wikipedia" instead of "Read the article at Wikipedia." Second, I would change the puzzle globe logo you use at the bottom of the page to the stylized Wikipedia "W" for consistency with your other uses and because shrinking it that much makes it not comply with the Wikimedia Foundation's Visual Identity Guidelines. Otherwise, I believe you are in compliance with the current CC license. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Best, Michelle Paulson Associate Counsel Wikimedia Foundation
Thanks Michelle, I have filed a bug for us to make sure this happens before we launch our new site http://dev.sandbox-freebase.com which should launch within the next months. http://bugs.freebase.com/browse/SITE-802 As we are working towards that, we 'd rather leave the old codebase untouched (my license changes were data driven). Let me know if these are more urgent, Michael
Issue solved: "The original description for Tron: Legacy was automatically generated from Wikipedia.org licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License."
