Since you improved the Website I cannot use WIKI anymore, the site will not load properly, Explorer 6 will report a " does not respond ". ( Other Web-Sites work O.K. ) I am so disappointed that you did not make the improvements backwards compatible. At my age ( 78 ) i do not intend to buy a new computer nor to learn a new operating system. Very sincerely Paul J . Merk
Change component to vector skin. Note, I can load the site fine in internet explorer 6, so I suspect something else is the issue. You can view wikipedia using the old skin by appending ?useskin=monobook to the end of urls ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page?useskin=monobook ) or by logging in and selecting monobook as the skin in your preferences.
Please try and attach a traceroute of the connection as this does not appear to be a issue with the skin.
I have experienced a similar problem when upgrading to Vector. I had to disable Vector and revert to a monobook-based skin because the page rendering time was severely delayed (2-5 s) in IE6 in my environment. I never completely narrowed down the cause, but believe it was a javascript load issue.
This is probably due to JS loading (IE6 is very old and runs JS very slowly), which should be fixed once the resource loader has arrived, as it'll cause JS that's not compatible with IE6 (most of it) not to be run on IE6.
